How to become a Christian ~

To become a Christian, a person must first realize that he or she is "lost," totally estranged and separated from God by a sinful nature.  The Bible is the history of God's relationship with humankind.  A short book in the New Testament portion of the Bible entitled Romans describes how a person can be become a Christian and be saved for heaven.  Here is clipped outline.

Romans 3:23

For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

A person -- any person -- cannot reconcile the his or her lost relationship with God.  Only God can do this.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death;  but the gift of God is
eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The penalty of sin is death.  To pay this penalty, God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, who lived an absolutely righteous life in perfect Love to pay the penalty of sin for us.  Although humans through sin have separated themselves from God, the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross made a made eternal life available for us.

Romans 5:8
But God commended His love toward us, in that while
we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

God so loved us that "while we were yet sinners" he still sent Christ to die for us.

Romans 10:9
That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shall believe in your heart that
God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved.

The gift of Eternal Life is a free, only God asks each of us to (1) Repent of our sin, (2) Confess Jesus Christ as Lord of life and (3) Believe God has raised Christ from the dead.  God has made these promises in the Bible that anyone who accepts Christ as Savior shall be saved for Eternal Life.

Romans 10:13
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

You can accept Christ at this moment, this very moment, with a prayer confessing your need for Jesus Christ and accepting Christ as your Savior.  Say that prayer and be saved today.  That is the beginning.
As a new Christian you will also want to follow Christ in believer's baptism by immersion and join the fellowship of a local Christian church that places an importance upon New Testament Christianity.
